A Space of Possibilities and a Living Network

Every failure is a matter of perspective –
how a new path opened before us

“What the caterpillar calls the end,
the rest of the world calls a butterfly.”

Some of you know that in 2023 we tried to relocate to Europe.

The full story of that time -

of an Israeli family abroad
while war broke out back home -

will be told one day.

But one thing is already clear to us.

What felt like a “failure” back then,
became yet another one of our greatest teachers.

We have said before that failure is a condition for movement.

When things do not work the way we imagined,
something deeper is revealed.

Our real needs.

When Plans Collapse

At the time we were in Portugal.

The emotional atmosphere -

both personal and national -

was heavy.

In the midst of it all
we returned to a principle that has guided us for years:

Sustainabeing is always at work.

Especially in difficult moments.

So we asked ourselves a simple question:

What do we have

that could be useful

to the people here?

That question became the beginning

of the international work we started developing -
consulting, planning and supporting sustainability-oriented projects.

you can have a look here...

We realized that we carry knowledge, experience

and professional infrastructure.

Around the world many people

want to build more sustainable lives,
but they often lack professionals

who can accompany them on that path.

Returning Home

Eventually we returned to Israel.

The business we had planned to sell was not sold.

they were tough days,

we felt like heading back,

It took us time to recover.

Though...

Inside the difficulty we received many gifts.

When something doesn’t work for you,
you suddenly see much more clearly,
what is truly necessary for it to work.

That moment was full of learning.

And it brought us back to look again

at the most basic sustaining system we have:

our family.

Looking Through the Lens of Sustainabeing

We asked ourselves:

What are the basic conditions a system needs
- our system -
in order to sustain itself?

How do we make sure that

emotional and mental resources do not run dry?

How do we grow enough roots
while still keeping enough freedom to grow?

Five insights began to take shape and clarity:

First Insight – Place

The world is vast and full of surprises.

Choosing a country or region from afar
and assuming it will fit all our needs
is extremely difficult.

And the truth is that needs themselves

change according to place.

Buying land without really knowing it,
without seeing the seasons,
without understanding local life,
without even knowing if our children will have friends

-

for us, that is not a sustainable plan.

Anyone familiar with permaculture design knows:

before designing a site,
you observe it for at least four seasons.

You learn what is being given
and what is taken away.

We realized the same applies

to choosing where to live.

We probably will not choose

a single place in advance.

We will arrive, live, observe, feel -
and only then decide.

Second Insight – Our Knowledge

For many years we have studied and worked

in a wide combination of fields:

design, construction, entrepreneurship,
sustainability and life systems.

We realized that this knowledge is highly relevant
in many communities around the world.

Especially among people starting new paths:

immigrants, farmers, small community builders,
and people seeking different ways of living.

These are places where shared values
create a natural language between people.

Third Insight – Lifestyle

Our values guide us toward places

where the pace of life is slower,
the cost of living lower,
and the pressure of Western culture

less dominant.

And here another small but meaningful

detail appeared:

Saar speaks Spanish.

That opened a large part of the world for us.

Fourth Insight – Movement

If we want to truly search for the right place for us,
we need to be mobile.

We discovered that many landowners and farmers
are open to hosting people on their land.

A mobile home would allow us to arrive,
stay, contribute, work -
and continue when the time is right.

An RV started to look like

a simple and practical solution.

And honestly, there are also simple family reasons.

We need a hot shower every day.

And we need at least one warm

home-cooked meal each day.

Anyone raising children knows why.

Fifth Insight – Education

We discovered that communities

with enough families and children -
almost always develop some form of

educational structures.

At the ages of our children,
each one already needs

a slightly different response.

But the first thing that

truly matters to us is simple:

that they are happy.

And that they have friends.

The Direction Begins to Appear

Slowly, through conversations and reflection,
these insights began to form a map.

The direction became clearer.

Latin America.

We asked questions.
We researched.

We spoke with many people.

There are many Israelis and immigrants
from Mexico and southward.

Saar traveled through Mexico twice in his youth,
each time buying a vehicle in the United States.

Vehicles in the United States are significantly cheaper.

If that is also true for RVs,
perhaps we could start there.

And drive from there
into the incredible region of -

Baja California.

And slowly the road began to unfold before us.

A Living Network

At the same time
we started weaving our global network.

We call it:

The Living Network.

A network of people, places and ideas
connected through shared values.

A space of possibilities that opens

when deep learning meets movement.

Our values, our observation,
and Sustainabeing -
which continues to guide us -

are still at work,

even after crossing the threshold,

Into a wider field of possibilities.

Expanding our living network.

This journey
is only beginning.

Viva México.

In the coming weeks we will begin sharing more

about the practical foundations

that make this journey possible -

and how those who feel close to this path
may choose to become part of it.
